Ingredients

  • Ground beef  – 500g (or chicken patty / veggie patty)
  • Burger buns – 4 pieces (or whole wheat buns / lettuce wraps)
  • Cheddar cheese – 4 slices (or any halal-certified cheese)
  • Onion rings – 1 cup (or grilled onions for a lighter option)
  • BBQ sauce (alcohol-free) – 4 tbsp (or homemade BBQ sauce)
  • Lettuce (optional) – a few leaves (or spinach / no greens)
  • Tomato slices – 1–2 tomatoes (or pickles / grilled vegetables)
  • Salt & pepper – to taste (or any preferred seasoning blend)

  • Oil (for frying) – as needed (or air-frying alternative)

Instructions

Step 1:
Season the halal ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape it into evenly sized patties. Let them rest for a few minutes before cooking.

Step 2:
Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked to your desired doneness. Add the cheese slice on top during the last minute so it melts perfectly.

Step 3:
Prepare the onion rings by frying them in clean oil until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can bake or air-fry them for a lighter option.

Step 4:
Toast the burger buns lightly. Spread a layer of alcohol-free barbecue sauce on the bottom bun, place the cooked patty with melted cheese, add crispy onion rings, then top with more sauce and the upper bun.

Pro Tip:
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of smoked paprika to the patty or mix a little honey into your barbecue sauce to enhance the sweet and smoky taste.
